The ceremony was organized by Ugandan wing of Plan International together with Gals Forum International, a local NGO as part of the events organized ahead of the International day of the girl child scheduled for  11th October . The idea is to demonstrate that girls can perform duties that men do. “We want to demystify the accessibility to this office and so are pleased to be a part of this event to support and inspire girls on this memorable day,” Gen. Katumba said after the event. Senator Akpabio denies involvement in alleged bribery of Supreme Court Justices

Image
Read the press statement below... The attention of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio has denied any connection to the alleged bribery of Justices of the Supreme Court. A sensational story making the rounds in the social media and circulated by the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a screaming headline: "Breaking News! 2015 A'Ibom polls: Fear grips Akpabio over arrest of Supreme Court Justices," had alleged that the Senator was scared over the ordeal of the Judges. A statement by the Special Assistant to the Senate Minority Leader, Mr Anietie Ekong described the story as being " spurious, baseless, false and the figment of the imagination of mischief makers who concocted it. Their frantic and desperate attempt to link Senator Akpabio with the saga is to tarnish his image in their continuing pull-him-down syndrome, which has increased in intensity since the party lost Akwa Ibom State." According to th...

21 PROSTITUTES FROM NIGERIA AS YOUNG AS 16 RESCUED BY POLICE IN SPAIN

Image
Prostitutes as young as 16 who were taken to Ibiza for the tourist sex trade then beaten with brooms and sticks if they didn’t bring in €1,000 a day have been rescued by police. The victims, who were lured to the Spanish mainland with fake promises of jobs, were forced to work 14 hours a day. One of the women, police have revealed, was just 16 years of age. All 21 are Nigerian and were working in the exclusive districts of Ibiza. A major operation carried out by the Spanish police in association with the Office of Criminal Investigation in Germany and Europol has led to the arrest of 24 suspects. ‘The network captured very young victims among the lower classes of the major Nigerian cities, deceiving them with false job offers in Spain. ‘Once in our country, they were forced into prostitution in marathon days, being beaten if they did not earn the money demanded by the gang,’ said a police spokesman. Investigators said Ibiza was chosen for the summer becau...

Yahoo News says Kim and Kanye seemed more into their phones than each other when the cameras weren't rolling

Image
Yesterday, Yahoo News released a report saying that Kim and Kanye seemed distant at the VMAs. Below is how they reported it... There seemed to be a “diskonnect” between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at the 2016 MTV VMAs. The power couple was the toast of the room last night - everyone wanted to take selfies with her or get him alone to hear one of his bizarre rants in person. But with all the behind-the-scenes cameras running on MTV.com, aka the best part of last night’s show, they seemed “on” when the spotlight was on them and “off” when it wasn’t. In their front row seats, the pair, who married in 2014, had their arms around one another and were even gazing into each other’s eyes. (Oh, Kanye, you genius you. Oh, Kim, you are the most beautiful woman on the planet.) Backstage though, they sat apart even though there were chairs side by side. They seemed far more into their phones than each other.

Video: Nigerian Air Force destroys new Boko Haram camp in Borno State, repel attack on troops

Image
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), during a night operation conducted  on Tuesday , successfully destroyed a new Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) Camp located between Malam Fatori and Kangarwa in Northern Borno. The new camp is about 4-6km away from the BHT location attacked earlier on 20 August 2016 by NAF Mi-17 helicopter within the same vicinity in a similar night operation that led to the death of about 300 insurgents. The post-strike Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) mission had revealed that surviving BHTs converged at the new location. According to the Director, NAF Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, the information was later confirmed to be true by series of follow-up Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that led to the latest strike. Recall that the general area around Malam Fatori and Kangarwa is infested with BHTs hence the need to clear the remnants of BHT in the area. The air assault is therefore expected to f...

Image
In an effort to rubbish claims of abuse made by an ex, a millionaire has released a video footage which shows the woman hitting herself in a rage. Scott Mitchell, 45, was previously accused by ex, Mary Hunt, 29, of physical & psychological abuse, telling reporters she suffered a black eye at the hands of the Florida business man. but the video presented by Mitchell's lawyers seemingly shows Ms Hunt having a meltdown and beating herself up. The Florida businessman previously accused Miss Hunt of stealing $2.1million worth of jewellery from the safe in his massive mansion following their split last summer. In response she claims Mitchell gave her black eyes and bruises before breaking off their wedding in August. But Mitchell's attorney Todd Foster told FOX 13: “The explanation for the black eye is now very different. There is no evidence that he ever beat her. This video now demonstrates that she is striking herself in the same ar...

Nigerian rapists escape punishment using money, influence and marriage

Image
More than 100 cases of sexual assault are reported in just one state each month, yet only a handful of suspects are ever prosecuted, Phillip Obaji writes for  The Guardian UK. When 14-year-old Amina got married last year, the occasion was solemn. Rather than the flamboyance that often characterises Nigerian nuptials this was a subdued affair, attended only by a few family members and close friends. The bride and groom knew each other, but they had not been in a relationship. Rather Amina, not her real name, was marrying one of three men who had gang-raped her in her village when she was 13 years old. Usaini Ja’afar and his accomplices had confessed to the crime under interrogation by the Hisbah board, a religious police force responsible for the enforcement of Sharia Law in the northern Nigerian state of Kano. He pleaded for forgiveness and offered to marry Amina so as to escape punishment. Amina’s father agreed and the men were allowed to walk free. "I decid...
