Supporters of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, have converged to celebrate his reinstatement as the sole Emir of Kano.  The supporters were from the umbrellas of the Muhammadu Sanusi II colloquium and Yan Dangwalen Jihar Kano—groups that fought and advocated for the return of the Emir.  The get-together event was organised to celebrate the restoration of the Emir and meet with all supporters.  According to the chairman of the event, Ibrahim Musa Abubakar popularly known as Sanyi-sanyi, the meeting is just to celebrate the reinstatement of the Emir. He said, “We cannot express our deepest gratitude to God who opportune Muhammadu Sanusi II to return to Gidan Dabo as Emir. That is why we are gathered here to show our appreciation to God and celebrate the development.” The event had in attendance high personalities, government officials, among others. 

Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, says he is not worried about the possibility of another governor removing him.  Former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had dethroned Sanusi in 2020, following a personal rift. While Sanusi was reinstated by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir, is contesting his dethronement in the court. Speaking with Saturday Sun, Sanusi said only God knows how long he will stay on the throne. He said: “For me, even now that I am here, only God knows how long I will be here. I can die tomorrow. Another governor can come tomorrow and say that he has removed me, it doesn’t matter. “But I am happy if he does not touch the emirate.
