Stephen Keshi's son expresses disappointment over FG's unfulfilled promises to honor his father

Stephen Keshi Junior, son of former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, took to his IG page yesterday to express his disappointment at the Federal government's unfulfilled promises to honor his father at his father's funeral rites which kicked off in Benin city Edo state yesterday July 28th. He wrote: "I sat in front of the federal government on national television a few weeks ago and they promised they would honor pops the way he deserves. They said that he has done too much for the country for them not to. They made us change dates to fit the federal governments schedule. But they didn't do as promised, we aren't mad, nor sad, just disappointed, they should be ashamed of themselves.  This sends a terrible message to our youth that are striving to do great things for Nigeria. The good thing is that We was raised not to ask for handouts. There will be no more postponements, today the funeral ceremonies began in Benin, the place he loved, where his care...

Police save another chained child in Ogun state

Barely a week after members of the Ogun state police command rescued 9 year old Korede Taiwo from the Celestial Church where he was chained by his father over his stealing habit, the state police command have rescued a 10 year old girl named Promise Udeh who was chained by her aunt, Chaimaka Okafor at their Adigbe residence in Abeokuta, the state capital. Chiamaka allegedly chained Promise because she stole her N4,000. The police is in search of Chiamaka as she has since fled her home.

Nigerian man allegedly hacked into bank's electronic mail in Ghana and stole money

A Nigerian man identified as Godwin Onwuneme Udu was arrested at Haatso, Ghana on July 19, for allegedly hacking into a bank’s electronic mail and stealing  GH¢25,000. The deputy director in-charge of the Unit, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Eugene Nyavor, said the management of the bank (name withheld) arrested and handed over Godwin to the police. Godwin allegedly transferred the cash from the customer and transferred it into his personal account at a different bank. He was nabbed by the police and bank officials on his way to withdraw the money from his bank at Haatso. It was also revealed that he been operating with other gangsters and have engaged in another fraud case also being handled by the Documentation Fraud Unit at the police headquarter in Accra. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, today arraigned five suspected oil thieves that were arrested by the Nigerian Army. The suspects named Sokari Iminabo, Segun Olagunju, Uche Emmaneul, Obinna Ezinne and Tiny Patience were arraigned on a two count charge bordering on illegal dealing in petroleum products, before Justice I.J Watilla of the Federal High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The suspected oil thieves were arrested on 26 April, 2016 at Anyako waterside in Sama Community, Asari Toru LG, Rivers State. At the point of their arrest, they were in possession of a locally constructed metal tank, housed in a Man Diesel truck to convey illegally refined Automative Gasoline Oil (AGO) concealed in poultry feeds.

– A group, the Global Excellence Foundation has called on the Nigerian government to adopt the use of Civilian Joint Task Force in the fight against militancy in the Niger Delta  – The group said the programme should be adopted and further expanded by the federal government into various security institutions in Nigeria A group, the Global Foundation (GEF) has said that the same approach used in combating the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists in the North eastern part of Nigeria should be adopted in the Niger Delta region. Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, has said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is just as ’roguish’ as the lawmakers he accused of corruption. He accused Obasanjo of bribing lawmakers with N50m to subvert the constitution and provide a constitutional framework for his third term ambition. Corey Wallace, a California pet owner shared a YouTube video of his daughter swimming with the family's favorite pet, a huge, 8-year-old albino Burmese python named Sumatra. "She has been to over 500 birthday parties and many schools, she has been around kids since she was a baby." Wallace wrote of the python in the video's description. Nigerian embassy told to visit 4 nationals on death row as Indonesia gives 72 hours notice of impending executions

Indonesia has given a group of death row inmates 72 hours notice before they face the firing squad. Authorities have been making preparations, with death row drug convicts transferred to Nusakambangan prison island (pictured) where Indonesia puts convicts to death. Fourteen prisoners are listed for execution, among them four Nigerian nationals, including Humphrey Ejike Jefferson and Michael Tutus Igwe, a Pakistani, one Indonesian woman, a Chinese, and Taiwanese nationals. Lawyers for some of the inmates have told ABC their clients may seek last-minute clemency from President Joko Widodo, meaning their executions could be delayed.
