DSS arrests former chief of army staff, Azubuike Ihejirika


The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) over his alleged sponsorship of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

The former Army chief was arrested at his Maitama, Abuja home on Tuesday June 21st. The Nation also reported that his arrest was also connected to the ongoing $2.1 billion arms purchase probe involving former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

Since his retirement, various allegations have been levied against the former COAS including that raised by an Australian, Stephen Davis who was invited by the Federal Government to negotiate with Boko Haram terrorist.

Davis in his report, alleged that Ihejirika and a former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff were among the financiers of the terrorists sect. Both men have sice denied the allegation.
