    Barely 24 hours to the scheduled visit of sitting President,Muhammadu Buhari to the Niger Delta, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has returned to the country.

    After weeks abroad, Jonathan returned to Nigeria on Wednesday night, June 1, 2016 and reportedly headed straight to his hometown in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
    This is coming as plans are in top gear by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike to beef up security as President Buhari commences his scheduled visit to Ogoni in Rivers state on Thursday, June 2, 2016.Buhari's visit, which is to flag-off clean-up of oil spills in Ogoni, will be his second to the Niger Delta since he took over from Jonathan.
    Confirming Jonatha's return, Reno Omokri, former senior special assistant to the ex-President on social media, later confirmed that the Nigerian leader had arrived his Otuoke hometown in Bayelsa.

Fasting may continue in Nigeria as moon not sighted

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, under the leadership of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared that fasting may continue on Sunday because Nigeria has not sighted the moon, indicating the end of the month of Ramadan. NSCIA made this known in a statement signed by the Secretary-General, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, on Saturday.  He also enjoined the Muslims to search for the crescent of Shawwal on the 29th of Ramadan, stressing, “If Muslims sight the crescent in accordance with the moon sighting and verification standards, then His Eminence would declare Sunday, March 30, 2025 as the 1st of Shawwal and the day of Idul Fitr.”

NNPCL Officials Are Not Thieves Says Kyari

Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has dismissed allegations that staff of the company are behind substandard importation of petroleum products into the country.  Speaking Wednesday when he appeared before a Senate Ad-hoc Committee over alleged economic sabotage in the petroleum industry, Kyari said he as the CEO, as well as the NNPCL had faced undue media attacks from persons doing everything to create the impression that the company is sabotaging the nation’s economy.  “NNPCL is faithful and will not lie to the country. We are not criminals and we are not thieves.
