In Kaduna; Fulani Herdsmen kill 2, residents desert communities

Two people have been confirmed dead while several others including women and children sustained injuries following an attack on Ninte Community in Zankan District of Jema’a LGA, Kaduna State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Several houses were torched while hundreds of residents have deserted Ninte communities to nearby villages as a result of the attack. Residents say the Fulani herdsmen invaded the communities in the early hours of Tuesday May 31 2016, shooting sporadically. “We had an issue last Friday. A Fulani man was grazing on a farm that had already been cultivated. The youth of the area were angry. They chased the Fulani man out of the farm. There was a crisis but the Senator representing our area, Danjuma La’ah came and settled the dispute.” “On Tuesday morning, several people invaded our communities with sophisticated weapons, killed two people and burnt several houses. As we speak, women and Children slept in an open while others have move to nearby communities for safety The Interim Management Committee Chairman of Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State, Dr Bege Katuka who also confirmed the incident to journalists, said two persons lost their lives while several properties, including houses were burnt down. The Chairman also confirmed that many residents deserted the communities for safety. “Government is putting drastic measures to ensure that the perpetual act come to an end. We will ensure that lives and properties of our people are secured as it is government’s primary responsibility,” Bege said.
